6HP mechatronic: replacement is the standard repair ($1,400–2,200 installed and programmed). Full rebuild if internal clutch damage exists ($2,200–3,000). 8HP45: valve body repair if damage is limited ($900–1,500); rebuild if solenoid bore damage is severe ($2,800–3,500).
ZF 6HP: ZF Lifeguard 6 — change every 40,000 miles ZF 8HP: ZF Lifeguard 8 — change every 40,000 miles. Not 'lifetime.'
