Nissan issued multiple TSBs (NTB14-034 and others) for RE0F10 shudder. The issue is often fluid-related but can progress to belt and pulley surface contamination.
Symptoms: Shudder at low speeds, judder on acceleration from stop, DTC P0868 or P0894, Nissan TSB applicable
Secondary pulley bearing failure can cause catastrophic pulley seizure on high-mileage Rogue and Pathfinder units.
Symptoms: Sudden transmission failure, grinding, vehicle immobile, secondary pulley may seize to shaft
Valve body passage wear causes line pressure drop and reduced pulley clamping force.
Symptoms: Belt slip, hesitation, fuel economy loss, DTC P0776 or P0840
RE0F10 CVT rebuild replaces belt, both pulley assemblies, and valve body. Secondary bearing is replaced. NS-3 fluid used throughout. All seals and solenoids replaced. TSB calibration applied.
Nissan NS-3 CVT fluid every 30,000 miles. Check for Nissan TSBs related to CVT shudder before authorizing major repairs — a fluid flush resolves many early shudder complaints. Rogue and Pathfinder owners should add auxiliary coolers.
