Acura TL (1999β2004) and MDX (2001β2005) use the BDKA five-speed automatic with the same 3rd clutch failure as the Honda Accord B7XA. Identical failure, identical repair.
Symptoms: Loss of 3rd gear, slipping between 2nd and 4th, vibration when 3rd gear should engage, P0730 code

2009β2014 TL and MDX six-speed develop input shaft bearing wear causing noise and eventual clutch failure.
Symptoms: Whining noise in drive, vibration under acceleration, slipping in 3rd and 5th gear, noise that increases with speed
Transmission: ZF 9HP
2014+ RDX and 2016+ MDX with ZF 9HP48 nine-speed have documented harsh shift and judder issues β particularly the 1-2 upshift when cold. Software updates exist but don't fully resolve it.
Symptoms: Harsh 1-2 shift especially when cold, judder at low speed, hesitation from stop, hunting between gears at highway speed
Transmission: SH-AWD
Acura's SH-AWD rear differential motor wears on high-mileage MDX and RL models, causing vibration and AWD warning lights.
Symptoms: Vibration from rear of vehicle during AWD engagement, SH-AWD warning light, burning smell from rear
