The 68RFE behind the 6.7L Cummins diesel (Ram 2500/3500) develops pump wear and solenoid failures, particularly under heavy tow use. This is a stout transmission but its pump design is vulnerable when fluid temperature spikes.

Symptoms: Delayed engagement especially when hot, transmission slipping under load, overheating warning, P0871 low fluid pressure code

Solenoid Pack Failure

Transmission: 545RFE

The 545RFE five-speed used in 2002–2012 Dodge Durango and Ram 1500 develops solenoid pack failure β€” the entire pack solenoid assembly faults, causing limp mode or harsh shifts.

Symptoms: Transmission stuck in 2nd gear limp mode, P0750-P0760 codes, harsh shifts after restart, no movement in some gear selections
