Known Honda Odyssey Transmission Problems

• B7XA (1999–2004): 3rd clutch pack failure — Honda's most notorious automatic transmission defect. Class action settled. We rebuild more B7XA Odysseys than any other Honda
• BYBA (2005–2010): Solenoid failures and 3rd gear issues continue — improved clutch pack but underlying weakness remains
• 10-speed (2018+): Honda issued TSBs for harsh shifts on early 10-speeds — largely PCM-related but valve body wear occurs over time

Warning Signs — When to Bring It In

• Loss of 3rd gear — 4AT and 5AT
• Transmission shudder during acceleration
• Slip between 1st and 2nd gear
• Burning smell from transmission
• No movement in Drive on hot days

Our Repair Process

B7XA/BYBA: Full rebuild — same Honda 3rd clutch failure. We use OEM Honda friction material. MGHA (2011–2017): solenoid or full rebuild based on code diagnosis. 10-speed: PCM reflash first, then mechanical if needed.
