Ridgeline is a unibody pickup — its drivetrain is closer to an Odyssey/Pilot than a traditional truck. The VTM-4 rear differential requires specific Honda VTM-4 fluid; using regular differential fluid causes locking clutch failure. Transmission service follows Honda automatic procedures.
MGHA and 6-speed use Honda ATF DW-1. VTM-4 rear differential uses Honda VTM-4 Fluid (specific, not interchangeable with standard gear oil). Change every 30,000 miles.

VTM-4 is Honda's rear-locking differential AWD system. It requires Honda VTM-4 Fluid — not regular gear oil. Change every 30,000 miles. Neglecting it causes locking differential failure ($800–1,400 to rebuild).
