Expert Jaguar E-Pace transmission service in Chicago. Free computer diagnostic, lifetime warranty on rebuilds, all years.
2018βpresent: 9-speed automatic (9HP50) Aisin front-wheel drive or AWD; 2.0L P250/P300 4-cylinder AWD: Jaguar's Active Driveline with electronically-controlled rear coupling All models: front-transverse engine layout; Aisin 9-speed is FWD-biased AWD
E-Pace 9HP50 diagnosis requires Jaguar SDD. Software version check β Jaguar and Aisin released calibration updates for 1-2 harshness and gear hunting. ATF verification: Aisin-specified ATF WS or equivalent is required for the 9HP50 (different from F-Pace's ZF fluid). Shudder test under cruise load. Rear AWD coupling seal is a separate inspection. Cold-start delay: valve body or accumulator inspection after software update fails to resolve. Full rebuild for units with confirmed clutch pack or mechanical damage from extended symptom driving.
Aisin ATF WS or Aisin-approved equivalent (NOT ZF Lifeguard 8); approximately 9 quarts; rear AWD coupling: Jaguar-specified coupling fluid
Software update: same day; fluid service: same day; AWD coupling seal: 1 day; valve body: 1β2 days; full rebuild: 4β6 days

After software updates, the Aisin 9HP50 has been reasonably reliable. Early 2018 models had the most shift quality complaints; updated calibration in 2019β2020 improved this significantly. Correct ATF WS fluid is essential β the E-Pace uses different fluid than the F-Pace.
The E-Pace uses an Aisin 9HP50 (Aisin ATF WS), while the F-Pace uses a ZF 8HP (ZF Lifeguard 8). These are completely different transmissions with different fluid requirements. Confirming which fluid is in your vehicle before service is critical.
No β the E-Pace uses a simpler rear coupling-based AWD (FWD-biased) while the F-Pace uses a more sophisticated longitudinal AWD with a traditional transfer case. The E-Pace is more similar to compact FWD crossovers in AWD architecture.
Fluid service: $149β240. Software update: $95β175. Valve body: $900β1,500. Full rebuild: $3,200β4,800. Remanufactured unit: $4,200β6,000 installed.
Yes β we have Jaguar SDD capability for E-Pace including the Aisin 9HP50 and AWD system. SDD is required to read Jaguar-specific fault codes not visible to generic scanners.
Same-day appointments available. Honest estimates, no surprises. We've been doing this since 1987.
