Almost certainly the 42RLE solenoid pack if you have a 2003β2011 JK. Solenoid replacement is $500β750 and restores normal operation.
Yes β the 8HP75 is a strong unit. The extra gears improve crawl-speed control. It does need ZF Lifeguard 8 fluid at 40k-mile intervals.
Usually yes β the NSG370 3-4 shift fork wears under hard off-road shifting. A synchro and fork rebuild is $1,000β1,600.
Yes β we service Wrangler transfer cases and can do transmission + transfer case simultaneously.
The manual is simpler mechanically but the shift fork and synchro issues are common with trail use. The automatic is more expensive to rebuild but requires less driver skill off-road.
Same-day appointments available. Honest estimates, no surprises. We've been doing this since 1987.
