The Jatco-designed solenoid body in the 09A fails frequently. The shift pressure solenoids develop internal wear that causes harsh shifts and limp mode.
Symptoms: Harsh shifts, limp mode (3rd only), DTC P0750–P0758, MIL on
The internal wiring harness of the valve body corrodes and cracks, causing intermittent solenoid faults.
Symptoms: Intermittent shift quality problems, DTCs appearing and clearing, speed sensor faults
TCC shudder develops when ATF is neglected. 1.8T turbocharged applications generate more heat than N/A engines.
Symptoms: Vibration at 40–55 mph, DTC P0740, worse after extended highway driving
09A rebuild replaces solenoid body (or individual solenoids), conductor plate, all clutch packs, torque converter, and all seals. VW-spec ATF used. Valve body ultrasonically cleaned.
VW/Audi-spec ATF every 40,000 miles. 1.8T turbocharged applications should use 30,000-mile intervals. Never use standard Dexron or Nissan Matic — the Jatco-sourced 09A requires VW ATF specification.
