The mechatronic unit (dual-clutch control electronics + valve body) fails from heat cycling and fluid degradation. S-Tronic mechatronic failure is the #1 repair.

VW/Audi G 052 182 A2 DSG fluid every 40,000 miles. This is a dual-sump system — both the mechatronics sump and the clutch sump require separate fluid fills. Never use standard ATF.
