Band adjustment is the most common 37RH maintenance item under V8 loads.
Symptoms: 2nd-gear slip; no reverse hold when rear band worn
TCC solenoid failure causing stall at stop or no lockup.
Symptoms: Engine stall; no TCC engagement
High-torque V8 loads cause direct clutch (3rd gear) failure at high mileage.
Symptoms: No 3rd gear; slip under hard acceleration in 3rd
Full disassembly. Front and rear bands replaced. TCC solenoid replaced. Direct clutch pack upgraded. All clutch packs replaced. Valve body rebuilt. Full soft parts.
ATF+4 every 30,000 miles. Annual band adjustment prevents premature clutch wear.
The 37RH is the modern designation for the A727 with lockup torque converter and some electronic updates. Core internals are very similar.
Direct clutch failure is the most common cause of no-3rd in V8 applications. We rebuild the direct drum with upgraded Alto frictions.
