OD band wear under V8 towing loads.

Electronic governor solenoid failure.

ATF+4 every 30,000 miles. The 42RH is also called the A500 in some references β same basic unit with lockup torque converter.
The 42RH is the modern designation for the A500 with full lockup torque converter. They share the same internals.
OD band is the first thing to check. Band-only replacement resolves it if clutch packs test good.
