Common Questions About the 4L65E

The 4L65E uses a 5-pinion front planetary (stronger than the 4L60E's 4-pinion), larger clutch pack capacity, and a stronger input shaft. It's rated for approximately 380 lb-ft torque vs 360 lb-ft for the 4L60E.

Corvette TCC shudder at 40–55 mph is usually the torque converter lockup clutch. Dexron VI fluid flush often resolves it; persistent shudder requires converter replacement.

Many parts interchange, but the planetary carriers are different β€” don't mix them. Input shafts and output shafts also differ between applications.
