The 4R55E is a heavier-duty version of the 4R44E with a stronger input shaft and larger clutch packs for Explorer and higher-torque Ranger applications. Most internal parts interchange.

Overdrive band failure or OD servo bore wear. We confirm with a pressure test. Band replacement alone often resolves it without a full rebuild if the clutch packs are good.
