The overdrive band snap ring on the 5R55S can wear or pop loose, disabling 5th gear. Also, the OD band material glazes with heat and high mileage.

Intermediate Band Adjust and Wear

The intermediate band controls 2nd and 4th gears. Glazing causes slip in those gears.

Symptoms: Slipping in 2nd or 4th gear; harsh engagement into those gears

EPC Solenoid
