Same solenoid body failure pattern as 6F35 β the most common 6F50 repair. Higher torque V6 applications accelerate wear.
Symptoms: Limp mode; P0750βP0770; harsh or erratic upshifts
The input shaft seal on the 6F50 develops leaks at the bellhousing, allowing ATF to drip at the engine-transmission junction.
Symptoms: ATF leak at front of transaxle; fluid pooling under vehicle; low fluid level
V6 Fusion and Taurus 6F50 TCC shudder β same Mercon LV fluid chemistry issue as 6F35.
Symptoms: Shudder at 40β60 mph under light throttle; clears at full throttle
Full disassembly. Solenoid body replaced. Input shaft seal replaced. TCC inspected. All clutch packs replaced. Full soft parts kit. Valve body cleaned and rebuilt. Converter flushed.
Mercon LV every 40,000β50,000 miles. Check for ATF at the bellhousing at every oil change β input shaft seal leaks worsen quickly and can cause fluid-starved clutch damage.
The 6F50 handles more torque (V6 applications) while the 6F35 is for 4-cyl and lighter V6. The 6F50 has larger clutch packs and a more robust case. Same gear ratios, different torque capacity.
Most likely the input shaft seal at the bellhousing. Common on higher-mileage units. We replace the complete front seal set during service.
Mercon LV β important distinction. Mercon V is a different viscosity and friction spec. Always verify with the dipstick label or door jamb sticker.
$1,800β2,600. 2β3 day turnaround.
Yes with regular Mercon LV service. The solenoid body is the main wear item β replacement at 80kβ100k is a reasonable preventive measure on high-mileage units.
