Turbocharged 2.0T applications put more torque through the 6T40's SRV bore than naturally-aspirated versions, accelerating wear.
Symptoms: 2nd-gear slip; harsh 1-2 shift; worsens under boost
TCC shudder in turbo applications is more severe than in naturally-aspirated 6T variants.
Symptoms: Shudder at 35β55 mph, especially under boost at light throttle
Higher torque loads accelerate solenoid body wear on the 6T40 vs lighter-duty 6T variants.
Symptoms: Limp mode; P-codes; erratic shifts under load
SRV bore kit. Solenoid body replaced. TCC inspected. All clutch packs replaced (upgraded for turbo applications). Full soft parts.
Dexron VI every 35,000 miles for turbocharged applications. Higher torque means faster fluid degradation.
Turbocharged engines deliver torque earlier and more aggressively than naturally-aspirated engines. The SRV bore sees higher hydraulic loads, accelerating wear. Service intervals should be shorter for turbo applications.
Very likely. Turbo Malibu is one of the most common 6T40 SRV bore failure vehicles we see. We measure and repair without needing a full rebuild if clutch packs test good.
