The A541E shift solenoids (SL1, SL2) fail at high mileage causing stuck-in-gear or erratic shifts.

Direct clutch failure from degraded T-IV fluid at high mileage.
Symptoms: Slipping in 3rd gear; slip under hard acceleration
TCC shudder from T-IV fluid degradation β very common on high-mileage Camry.
Symptoms: Shudder at 40β55 mph; clears under hard acceleration
Full disassembly. Shift solenoids replaced. Direct clutch pack rebuilt. TCC inspected. All clutch packs replaced. Valve body rebuilt. Full T-IV soft parts kit. Converter flushed.
Toyota T-IV every 30,000 miles. The A541E Camry shudder at highway speed is one of the most common Toyota issues we see β almost always resolved with fresh T-IV fluid before mechanical repair is needed.
Classic A541E TCC shudder from degraded T-IV fluid. A fluid flush resolves this in roughly 80% of cases. If shudder persists, the torque converter TCC friction needs replacement.
Shift solenoid failure (OD light flashing, stuck in 2nd or 3rd) is the classic diagnosis. Solenoid replacement resolves it without a full rebuild if the clutch packs are good.
Toyota Type T-IV. Do not use Dexron VI β different friction chemistry.
