Updated design from earlier B7-series but still vulnerable to clutch pack wear under V6 torque. 3rd and 4th clutch frictions glaze prematurely.
Symptoms: RPM flare on 2-3 or 3-4 upshift, engagement delay, DTC P0734 or P0735
Shift solenoids A and B develop intermittent open circuits from heat cycling, causing unpredictable shift quality.
Symptoms: Random harsh shifts, DTC P0753 or P0758, occasional limp mode with only 1st and 3rd gears
The integrated differential bearings wear after high mileage, particularly in Odyssey applications where the unit is heavily loaded.
Symptoms: Growling noise on acceleration, vibration through steering wheel, noise changes with vehicle speed
B7YA rebuild replaces all clutch packs with upgraded friction material. Differential bearings are replaced. Valve body solenoids are replaced. All seals and O-rings are renewed. Torque converter is serviced with new friction disc.
Change Honda ATF-Z1 every 30,000 miles. Odyssey applications benefit from an auxiliary transmission cooler given the extra weight. Check fluid level monthly on high-mileage units.
