The BJFA TCC shudder is the #1 complaint. It manifests as a resonant vibration at light throttle around 40–50 mph, often confused with engine misfire.
Symptoms: Vibration or shudder at 40–50 mph, DTC P0740, shudder disappears at full throttle
Third and fourth clutch packs still show premature wear despite Honda's 6-speed redesign, particularly under V6 torque.
Symptoms: Slipping under acceleration between 2nd–4th gears, RPM flare, DTC P0734
Solenoid B (line pressure control) fails electrically or sticks, causing inconsistent line pressure and shift feel changes.
Symptoms: DTC P0778, varying shift firmness, transmission hunting between gears on highway
BJFA rebuild replaces all six-speed clutch packs. Torque converter is rebuilt with upgraded friction material to address shudder. Pressure control solenoid B and all shift solenoids are replaced. Valve body is ultrasonically cleaned. All seals and bearings renewed.
Honda ATF-DW1 every 30,000 miles. If shudder develops, a fresh ATF-DW1 flush sometimes resolves early-stage TCC shudder before clutch material embeds in the fluid. Do not delay service once shudder begins.
