TCC Shudder (SKYACTIV-Drive Early Lock)

The SKYACTIV-Drive FW6A-EL locks the TCC much earlier (at very low speeds β€” as low as 15 mph) to improve fuel economy. This aggressive lock-up causes shudder when ATF-FZ is degraded.

Symptoms: Low-speed shudder at 15–25 mph, vibration feels like engine miss, DTC P0740 or no DTC

ATF-FZ Fluid Degradation

ATF-FZ is the sole Mazda-spec fluid for SKYACTIV-Drive. Using Mercon V or generic ATF causes immediate TCC shudder and long-term clutch wear.

Shift Solenoid Failure

Solenoid failure from degraded ATF-FZ causes shift quality issues on high-mileage SKYACTIV units.

Rebuild Process
