Shift solenoids A and B wear over high mileage, causing shift quality issues and DTC codes.
Symptoms: DTC P0750 or P0755, harsh or delayed shifts, limp mode
The servo band wears from age and high mileage. Periodic adjustment extends life; replacement required when worn through.
Symptoms: Slip in 2nd gear, RPM spike on 1-2 upshift
Inner axle shaft seals leak ATF, reducing fluid level and causing accelerated wear.
Symptoms: ATF drip from inner CV joints, low ATF level
GF4A-EL rebuild replaces shift solenoids, band set, axle shaft seals, all clutch packs, and all seals. Mercon V or ATF-M3 used.
Mercon V or Mazda ATF-M3 every 30,000 miles. Check axle shaft seals at each service. Band adjustment required at 60,000-mile intervals on high-mileage units.
