The GM 6T40 in Land Rover applications shares the secondary regulator valve bore wear endemic to all GM 6T-family transmissions. Bore wear causes line pressure instability across all gears.
Symptoms: Soft or inconsistent shifts, slip under acceleration, DTC P0776 or P0796 β same diagnosis as GM Equinox/Malibu
GM solenoid body wear causes harsh shifts and DTCs. Freelander Si4 turbo heat loads accelerate solenoid deterioration.
Symptoms: DTC P0750βP0778, erratic shifts, limp mode
The GM 6T40 interfaces with the Haldex AWD coupling on Freelander and Evoque. AWD faults can appear as transmission faults and vice versa.
Symptoms: AWD warning light, reduced traction on slippery roads, combined AWD + transmission DTCs
GM 6T40 (Land Rover) rebuild replaces SRV bore with Sonnax oversized valve, solenoid body, all clutch packs, and all seals. Haldex AWD interface inspected. Dexron VI used.
Dexron VI ATF every 40,000 miles. Haldex AWD fluid requires separate service every 30,000 miles. Diagnose Haldex and 6T40 independently β their faults can mask each other.
