Pathfinder AWD applications generate high secondary shaft loads. Secondary bearing failure can cause catastrophic pulley damage if unaddressed.
Symptoms: Growling noise from transaxle, vibration under load, eventual abrupt failure if ignored
JF017E shudder is addressed by multiple Nissan TSBs, primarily via NS-3 fluid change. Advanced cases require valve body service.
Symptoms: Judder on light acceleration, DTC P0868, vibration at 20–40 mph
Pathfinder and Murano loaded-vehicle use generates high belt clamping loads. Neglected NS-3 allows belt element wear to accelerate.

JF017E rebuild replaces belt, both pulleys, secondary bearing, and all solenoids. NS-3 fluid. All seals and O-rings renewed. TSB calibration applied.
Nissan NS-3 every 30,000 miles. Pathfinder owners should add an auxiliary cooler — the stock radiator-integrated cooler is marginal for loaded SUV duty. Reduce interval to 25,000 miles with towing.
