SRT8 6.4L Hemi torque and aggressive driving produce extreme heat loads on the NAG2 conductor plate. Failure rates are higher than standard NAG1 applications.
Symptoms: Limp mode, DTC P0715/P0720, erratic 7-speed shifting, MIL on
Track and drag use of SRT models causes clutch pack wear much faster than street applications. The 6.4L Hemi torque is near the NAG2 design limit.
Symptoms: Slip under WOT, RPM flare on 1-3 shifts, DTC P0734
Individual solenoids fail from high-temperature cycling in SRT applications. Solenoid pack replacement may restore function without full rebuild.
Symptoms: DTC P0750βP0775 range, specific gear loss, harsh shifts
NAG2 rebuild replaces conductor plate, full solenoid set, upgraded clutch packs for SRT applications, torque converter, and all seals. Mopar NAG2 ATF used. All bearings and thrust washers renewed.
Mopar NAG2 ATF every 30,000 miles for SRT performance applications. If tracking your SRT8, change fluid after every track event. The NAG2 is not rated for sustained drag racing β clutch pack upgrades during rebuild significantly improve durability.
NAG2 is Chrysler's designation for the Mercedes-Benz 722.9 7G-Tronic Plus, used exclusively in SRT8-powered 300, Charger, Challenger, and Grand Cherokee models from 2012β2014.
Mopar NAG2 ATF β a specific Mopar part number different from NAG1 and from standard ATF+4.
A full rebuild ranges $2,300β$3,000 at Chicago Transmission for SRT applications with upgraded components.
At street power levels yes β but sustained track or drag use stresses the clutch packs. Upgraded frictions during rebuild significantly improve SRT performance durability.
The NAG2 was used from 2012β2014 in SRT8-model Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep vehicles before the introduction of the 8HP ZF transmission.
