The Jatco RE0F06 push-belt wears significantly faster than expected when NS-2 fluid is neglected. Belt fragment debris circulates through the valve body, causing catastrophic failure.
Symptoms: Sudden loss of acceleration, whining or grinding, DTC P0868, vehicle won't move in Drive
The primary (input) pulley bearing wears, causing excessive play that destabilizes the belt path and accelerates belt wear.
Symptoms: Whining noise proportional to vehicle speed, vibration at highway speeds, DTC P0776
Valve body passages wear and allow internal leakdown, reducing pulley clamping force and causing belt slip under load.
Symptoms: Slip under hard acceleration, hesitation when pulling away from stop, reduced fuel economy
RE0F06A CVT rebuild replaces the steel belt set, primary and secondary pulley assemblies, and valve body solenoids. Primary bearing is replaced. All seals and O-rings renewed. NS-2 fluid is used exclusively.
Nissan NS-2 CVT fluid only — every 30,000 miles. The RE0F06A is sensitive to fluid condition. Many early failures result from using Dexron or Mercon instead of NS-2. Never overfill.

The first-generation Murano CVT (RE0F06A) has poor reliability if fluid is not changed every 30,000 miles with NS-2.

Using Dexron or any non-NS-2 fluid destroys the belt and pulley surfaces rapidly. Always verify the correct fluid specification before any CVT service.
