The governor pressure solenoid and transducer fail — same endemic issue across all RE4F-family transmissions.
Symptoms: High-rev shifts, DTC P0745/P1762, limp mode with only 1st and 3rd available
Quest applications are overloaded for this transaxle. Repeated heavy payload cycling accelerates clutch pack wear significantly.
Symptoms: Slip under acceleration, RPM flare, delayed engagement after sitting
The line pressure solenoid degrades, causing inconsistent shift feel — sometimes very firm, sometimes very soft.
Symptoms: Variable shift hardness, occasional shift shock, DTC P0777 or P0778
RE4F04 rebuild replaces governor solenoid, line pressure solenoid, all clutch packs (upgraded frictions for Quest), and all seals. Torque converter is rebuilt. Quest rebuilds include a post-installation auxiliary cooler recommendation.
Nissan Matic-J ATF every 30,000 miles. Quest minivan owners should add an auxiliary cooler — the stock cooler is insufficient for minivan load. Check fluid level monthly on high-mileage Quest units.
