The U140E shift solenoids fail at 100kβ150k miles causing stuck-in-gear symptoms and OD light flashing.
Symptoms: Stuck in 2nd or 3rd; OD light flashing; P0750/P0755 codes
TCC shudder from degraded T-IV or WS fluid β among the most common Toyota complaints we see.
Symptoms: Shudder at 40β55 mph under light throttle; Camry highway shudder
The U140E range sensor (inhibitor switch) fails and causes incorrect gear indication or no-start.
Symptoms: Incorrect PRNDL display; no-start in Park; gear selection issues
Full disassembly. Solenoids replaced. TCC inspected. Range sensor replaced. All clutch packs replaced. Valve body rebuilt. Full T-IV/WS soft parts kit. Converter flushed.
Toyota T-IV or WS ATF every 30,000 miles. The Camry V6 U140E TCC shudder is resolved by fluid change in ~80% of cases β always try this before condemning the converter.
Toyota T-IV or WS fluid flush resolves most U140E TCC shudder cases. If shudder continues after fresh fluid, the torque converter lockup clutch needs service.
The U140F adds AWD capability with an integral transfer unit. Same core transaxle internals.
Range sensor failure β the inhibitor switch that reads gear selection has failed. Range sensor replacement (not a rebuild) resolves it.
Toyota T-IV (older applications) or WS ATF (2003+ applications). Check the door jamb sticker or dipstick label.
