TCC shudder from degraded WS fluid is by far the most common U660E complaint. Toyota issued TSB T-SB-0117-15 specifically addressing U660E TCC shudder. Fresh WS fluid resolves the majority of cases.
Symptoms: Shudder or vibration at 40β55 mph under light throttle; clears under hard acceleration; worse in warm weather
Linear shift solenoids (SL1-SL4) wear at 120kβ150k miles causing harsh shift quality.
Symptoms: Harsh shifts; P0750-series codes; missed gears
Valve body pressure regulator bore wear causing low line pressure and multiple gear slip.
Symptoms: P0868; multiple gear slip; harsh engagements
Full disassembly. TCC replaced. SL solenoid set replaced. Pressure regulator bore measured β Sonnax kit if worn. All 6-speed clutch packs replaced. Valve body rebuilt. Full WS soft parts kit. Converter flushed.
Toyota WS ATF every 40,000β50,000 miles. The U660E WS shudder is the most common Toyota transmission issue we resolve β fresh WS fluid is the first and often only repair needed. Toyota's 'lifetime' fluid designation is incorrect for long-term reliability.
Almost certainly U660E TCC shudder. This is the most common Toyota transmission complaint we see. Toyota WS fluid flush resolves it in ~85% of cases. If shudder continues after fresh WS, the torque converter TCC is worn.
Yes β TSB T-SB-0117-15 covers U660E TCC shudder across multiple models. The fix is a WS fluid flush, sometimes with a revised fluid formulation. This is a warranty repair if within coverage.
Toyota WS ATF. Do not use Dexron VI or T-IV β the U660E's solenoids were calibrated specifically for WS friction chemistry.
