The TG-81SC in early XC40s sees the same torque converter shudder as other Volvo 8-speed applications — fluid service with genuine Aisin ATF resolves most cases. The 7-speed DCT on newer models is still accumulating field history; we service the mechatronic unit and perform clutch adaptations with Volvo VIDA software. XC40 Recharge reduction gear is EV-specific — we refer those to EV specialists.

Start by ruling out engine mounts (cheaper). If mounts are fine, it's likely TG-81SC torque converter shudder — a fluid service with genuine Aisin ATF typically resolves it.
No traditional transmission — it uses a single-speed reduction gear. There's no shift, no fluid to change (other than e-axle oil). Reduction gear bearing issues are separate from transmission work.
Both use the TG-81SC — the T5 just has a higher-output engine. Same transmission service requirements.
