Honda's CVT (branded as Earth Dreams CVT) uses a push belt design similar to Jatco's CVTs. Unlike Nissan's high-failure CVTs, Honda's has been more durable β though we're seeing more failures as 2014β2018 Civics accumulate miles. The primary failure points are the drive belt and the oil pump. Honda uses Honda-specific HCF-2 CVT fluid that is not interchangeable with generic CVT fluid.

Belt wear causes ratio loss and eventual drive failure. Less common than Nissan CVTs but increasing as miles accumulate.
