2017-present Gen 2: 7-speed automatic (7AT) with rear-wheel drive or AWD; 2.0T or 3.0T twin-turbo V6 3.0T Red Sport 400: 7-speed automatic; performance-tuned shift calibration; 400 hp AWD models: Infiniti's Intelligent AWD with electronically-controlled torque split
Q60 7AT diagnosis uses Infiniti Consult III or III Plus for manufacturer-specific fault codes. Software calibration version check is the first step for 1-2 harshness - Infiniti released updates addressing shift feel. Fluid condition inspection: Matic K or newer Matic S depending on model year. Shudder test at highway cruise for torque converter health. Solenoid circuit testing for erratic downshift complaints. AWD transfer case fluid inspection and pressure test are performed separately. Cold-start delay is diagnosed via valve body function test at low temperature.
7AT: Nissan Matic K (2017-2019) or Matic S (2020+) ATF; approximately 9 quarts; AWD transfer case: Nissan-specified gear oil
Fluid service: same day; software update: same day; solenoid valve body: 1-2 days; torque converter: 2-3 days; full rebuild: 4-6 days
Every vehicle needs diagnosis before anyone can promise a repair path. These are the situations we help organize before you decide what to do next.
Tell us when it happens, whether reverse still works, and if warning lights are on. A scan and fluid check come before guessing at a rebuild.
Fluid condition, leak location, and driving distance matter. If the vehicle is slipping badly or overheating, towing may be the safer next step.
A failed solenoid, valve body, converter, or internal clutch problem can lead to very different repair paths. The goal is a clear diagnosis and written estimate.
1-2 harshness is a documented issue on Q60 7AT models addressed by Infiniti calibration updates. A software update is typically the first and lowest-cost repair. If harshness continues after the update, valve body inspection follows.
The 7AT in the Red Sport 400 is calibrated for performance driving but has similar reliability to the standard Q60. The higher-output 3.0T generates more heat, making fluid changes every 40,000 miles more important for high-performance use.
The Q60 and Q50 share the same 7AT platform (and 9AT on some Q50 models). Many service procedures and parts are common between the two vehicles.
Every 40,000-45,000 miles for city driving. Matic K or Matic S ATF - confirm which year/spec applies to your specific vehicle. Do not use Dexron VI as a substitute.
