Yes β Sport mode increases the simulated gear ratio steps and raises the lock-up point for a more responsive feel. It does place more demand on the CVT belt, so we recommend Matic S CVT fluid changes every 30,000 miles if you use Sport mode regularly.
Belt CVTs inherently have a different acceleration feel than traditional automatics β RPM climbs before speed follows because the belt ratio changes continuously. Fresh CVT fluid and correct software calibration minimize this sensation, but some of it is fundamental to CVT design.
