2006–2010: 09G 6-speed automatic or 6-speed DSG. 2012–2019: DQ250 6-speed DSG (2.5L: 09G automatic). 2020–present: DQ381 7-speed DSG wet DCT (2.0T). TDI: DQ250 6-speed DSG.
Passat DQ250 mechatronic replacement is our most common VW repair — the wet DSG is robust but the mechatronic solenoids wear at high mileage. We use genuine VW mechatronic units and perform VCDS adaptation after installation. TDI Passats with DQ250 are especially common — DSG service every 40,000 miles with G052529A2 fluid is mandatory.

Every 40,000 miles with VW G052529A2 fluid and filter. Don't skip this — degraded DSG fluid is the primary cause of mechatronic solenoid wear on the DQ250.
Shudder under light throttle at 30–50 mph on a TDI Passat is almost always DQ250 mechatronic wear. We confirm with a live data scan before recommending parts.
