2021 - 2024: SelectShift 10-speed automatic (10R60) - standard on most trims. 2021 - 2024: 7-speed Getrag manual (with crawler gear) on 2.3L EcoBoost. 2021 - 2024: 2-speed BorgWarner transfer case on all 4WD variants. Bronco Sport (2021+): 8-speed automatic (8F35) on 1.5L and 2.0L EcoBoost.
The 2021+ Bronco is a relatively new platform so most transmission failures we see are from hard off-road use rather than age. Diagnosis starts with a full scan and road test. For TCC shudder on the 10R60, Mercon ULV fluid exchange is the first step. Manual transmission issues require teardown to assess synchronizer and clutch condition. Transfer case electronic shift module failures are often software or connector-related before being mechanical.
10R60 uses Mercon ULV. 7-speed Getrag manual uses Motorcraft Full Synthetic Manual Transmission Fluid. Transfer case uses Motorcraft 4x4 rear axle lubricant. Bronco Sport 8F35 uses Mercon LV.
10R60 TCC service: same day. Full 10R60 rebuild: 3 - 4 days. 7-speed manual synchro repair: 3 - 4 days. Transfer case: 1 - 2 days.
Every vehicle needs diagnosis before anyone can promise a repair path. These are the situations we help organize before you decide what to do next.
Tell us when it happens, whether reverse still works, and if warning lights are on. A scan and fluid check come before guessing at a rebuild.
Fluid condition, leak location, and driving distance matter. If the vehicle is slipping badly or overheating, towing may be the safer next step.
A failed solenoid, valve body, converter, or internal clutch problem can lead to very different repair paths. The goal is a clear diagnosis and written estimate.
Yes - the 10R60 TCC shudder is the same issue as the 10R80 in F-150. Start with a Mercon ULV fluid exchange ($149 - 199). If the shudder continues after 500 miles, the torque converter needs replacement.
Yes, but the transmission and transfer case need maintenance more frequently under off-road use. Change fluid every 30,000 miles (vs. 60,000 for street use) and inspect the transfer case fluid after any deep-water crossings.
Usually a transfer case electronic shift issue - can be a wiring connector, module fault, or (less commonly) mechanical. Get a diagnostic before assuming a rebuild is needed.
3 - 4 business days. The 10R60 is closely related to the 10R80 in F-150 - same rebuild process, same parts availability.
Ford's warranty doesn't automatically void for off-road use, but damage caused by abuse (rock impacts, flooding) typically isn't covered. If you're off-roading regularly, keep fluid service records.
Same-day appointments available. Honest estimates, no surprises. We've been doing this since 1987.
