Expert Subaru Subaru Impreza transmission service in Chicago. Free computer diagnostic, lifetime warranty on rebuilds, all years.
2008β2011: 4-speed automatic (TZ1B4ZFAAA). 2012β2016: Lineartronic CVT (TR580). 2017βpresent: Lineartronic CVT (TR690).
Impreza uses the same Lineartronic CVT as the rest of the Subaru lineup β CVTF-II mandatory. Fluid service every 30k is the key to longevity. TR580 chain wear is well-documented; we carry updated chain kits. The 4-speed TZ is a simpler unit β solenoid packs are available and most failures are repairable without full rebuild.
Subaru CVTF-II (CVT). Subaru ATF (4-speed).
Fluid service: same day. Chain repair: 2β3 days. Rebuild: 3β4 days.
"Honest diagnosis, fair price, and the repair was done right. Chicago Transmission has been my go-to for years. Wouldn't trust anyone else with my car."
"The free diagnostic alone was worth the trip. They found the problem fast, gave me a written estimate, and completed the work on time. Exceptional service."
"Family owned and it shows. They treated my car like it was their own. The lifetime warranty on my rebuild gives me total peace of mind. Highly recommend."
Yes β same Lineartronic unit, same fluid requirements, same failure modes. TR580 on 2012β2016, TR690 on 2017+.
At that mileage and symptom, start with a fluid exchange. If shudder persists after 500 miles, the chain likely needs replacement β catching it before full slippage saves the pulleys.
Typically $2,400β3,600 depending on the extent of wear. We include a 2-year/24,000-mile warranty on all CVT rebuilds.
Short trips are okay but we recommend addressing it quickly. Continued driving with chain slip can damage the primary and secondary pulleys, turning a $2,000 chain job into a $3,500 rebuild.
Fluid exchange every 30,000 miles with Subaru CVTF-II. More often if you drive aggressively or in hilly terrain.
Same-day appointments available. Honest estimates, no surprises. We've been doing this since 1987.
