Most Chicago-area transmission shops are Monday-through-Friday operations. If your transmission starts acting up Thursday night or Friday after work, you're looking at a full week before most shops can even look at it — unless you find one that's open on Saturday. Chicago Transmission in Lincoln Park is open Saturday 8am–2pm, and we run the same full-service shop on weekends that we do during the week.
Why Saturday Service Matters for Working Chicagoans
Your car is how you get to work. When something goes wrong with the transmission, every day it sits undiagnosed is a day of stress about whether you'll make it in Monday morning. Getting it looked at on Saturday means you have options heading into the week — not just anxiety.
For most diagnostic visits and minor repairs (fluid service, solenoid replacement, code clearing), we can often complete the work the same Saturday morning you bring it in. Drop it off at 8am, pick it up by noon.
What We Can Do on Saturday
Full Computer Diagnostic
The same diagnostic process we run Monday through Friday. We pull all codes, inspect fluid, road test the vehicle, and give you a written report. This is always free — no diagnostic fee for any vehicle we end up repairing.
Transmission Fluid Change
Our $89 transmission fluid change and inspection is available Saturday. This is the most common Saturday visit we see — people who finally have time to address the "service transmission" reminder that's been blinking for two months. Fluid change takes about an hour. We inspect the pan for debris while we're in there and report anything that looks concerning.
Minor Repairs
Solenoid replacements, speed sensor swaps, filter changes, and minor electrical repairs can usually be completed Saturday morning if we have the parts in stock. Call ahead to confirm part availability for your specific vehicle.
Rebuild Drop-Off
If you know you need a rebuild, Saturday is a good day to drop the car off. We'll have it diagnosed, quoted, and parts ordered by Monday so work can start first thing in the week. A rebuild typically takes 3–5 business days once parts are on hand.
What Saturday Hours Are in Chicago Transmission Context
We're open 8:00am to 2:00pm Saturday. Last vehicle drop-offs for same-day work are by 9am. Diagnostics can be dropped off any time through noon (we'll have results for you the following Monday if there's no same-day availability).
We're closed Sunday. If your car fully breaks down over the weekend, have it towed to our lot and we'll get to it first thing Monday morning — just call or text (312) 452-5637 to let us know it's coming so we can plan for it.
Finding Us on Saturday
2450 N Lincoln Ave, Chicago, IL 60614. Lincoln Park neighborhood. Street parking available on Lincoln Avenue and adjacent side streets. From I-90/94 take Fullerton Ave east to Lincoln Ave, then north 3 blocks.
Call Ahead for Repairs, Walk In for Diagnostics
You don't need an appointment to get a diagnostic on Saturday. Walk in, we'll write it up. If you know you need a specific repair, calling Friday afternoon to confirm parts availability means you're more likely to get same-day Saturday service. For bigger jobs (rebuilds, valve body replacement), drop-off Saturday works best.
Transmission problems never happen at a convenient time. Saturday service is one less logistical obstacle to getting your car fixed.
