Shift solenoid failure causes P0750–P0770 codes, limp mode, and missing gears. Pressure solenoid failure causes harsh shifts and pressure codes. We test and replace individual solenoids or solenoid packs — free diagnostic first.
"Honest diagnosis, fair price, and the repair was done right. Chicago Transmission has been my go-to for years. Wouldn't trust anyone else with my car."
"The free diagnostic alone was worth the trip. They found the problem fast, gave me a written estimate, and completed the work on time. Exceptional service."
"Family owned and it shows. They treated my car like it was their own. The lifetime warranty on my rebuild gives me total peace of mind. Highly recommend."
If the vehicle is in limp mode (locked into one gear), driving is very limited — you should have it towed or drive only to the shop. If you have a code but no limp mode, you have a few days. Don't defer beyond that — a stuck solenoid can cause clutch slippage that turns a $400 solenoid job into a $2,500 rebuild.
Diagnosis determines this. A solenoid code doesn't automatically mean the solenoid itself failed — sometimes the valve body passages are clogged and the solenoid can't move fluid properly even though it's electrically fine. We test both before recommending either.
Externally accessible solenoids can be replaced same-day in some cases. Solenoids requiring a pan drop are typically done in 1 business day. Solenoid pack replacements take 1–2 business days.

We read the actual TCM codes — not just the check engine light. Written estimate before any work. 2450 N Lincoln Ave, Mon–Fri 7:30am–6pm, Sat 8am–2pm.
