With proper fluid maintenance, yes β the updated TR690 in 2019+ Foresters is improved over the earlier TR580. The weak point is the chain on high-mileage pre-2018 cars.
At low speed, shudder is usually CVT chain or belt wear. Try a fluid flush first; if that doesn't clear it within 500 miles, the CVT needs inspection.
No β Subaru CVTF-II is specifically formulated for the Lineartronic chain CVT. Generic or Dexron-based CVT fluid will accelerate chain wear and can cause shudder.
The XT turbo used a 5-speed automatic on earlier models, then CVT. The CVT in XT models is rated for more torque but shares the same fluid requirements and failure modes.
